The objectives for a sustainable strategic development model for Greek tourism
Greek tourism, despite the economic and geopolitical challenges, recorded a strong recovery this year, fully recovering, in terms of travel receipts, to pre-pandemic levels. However, the strong demand has highlighted issues of concern for both Greek and international tourism, such as human resource
needs, while the energy crisis, rising inflation and interest rates, as well as the risk of an economic slowdown, create new challenges in the effort to sustain the recovery. As more recent challenges, severe congestion at international airports and flight delays and cancellations could also affect developments in global tourism. At this difficult time of year, the theme Rethink Tourism for this year’s World Tourism Day celebrations is more relevant than ever. It is a debate that SETE has opened up in recent years in our country, highlighting the potential of the sector and the ways of future development in an ever-changing environment. It is with this in mind that we have prepared and published the study & Greek Tourism 2030 – Action Plans". A study that responds to all the concerns and needs of today. It is the most comprehensive work ever done in the field of tourism. A complete mapping, both in terms of product, markets and all the infrastructures that affect tourism activity. The transition to sustainability, the circular economy, the Green Deal, the balanced development of destinations
and regions in cooperation with local authorities, business sustainability and its positive footprint on the economy and society are key objectives of SETE and reflect the ever-increasing orientation of tourism towards a sustainable strategic development model. You will be able to find out about all the above and more through the pages of itn Greek Tourism, an important initiative for keeping up to date with developments in Greek tourism.
